A Staged Wedding

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with a group of colleagues in The Bliss Collection. We are a group of professional wedding vendors covering each facit of the wedding industry.  All of us don't always have the opportunity to work together, so we decided to put together a wedding with each of us doing our part, and then new clients can see what team effort can afford them.  When trusting your wedding details to vendors that are used to working together, the results are just fantastic.

I asked one of my former clients if they would play "bride and groom" again (they were already married 1 year), and they were thrilled to help out.  I collaborated with the other wedding planners in the group and we came up with the type of wedding we wanted to have portrayed, then each vendor contributed their share of expertise.  We all had so much fun with the day.

Trying on Gowns

by Myrna 29. December 2009 16:06

After shopping for gowns with one of my 2010 brides, I want to pass along a bit of advice.  Do keep an open mind when looking for that special gown.  You never know what that gown might look like on you, even though it might not have hangar appeal.   This is the advice I gave to my client, and I am so happy she took the advice.  She tried on what she thought she wanted for her special day, and then tried on those gowns that she wasn't quite sure about.  Each gown looked beautiful on her, and with each one I asked,"what are you thinking?" she answered "I like it".  I wasn't convinced that she had found the "right" one yet.  It wasn't until she tried on a gown that was totally different than she had thought she wanted, that I heard "This one is amazing".

So, keep an open mind when gown shoppin.   Have fun with it until you find the one that absolutely talks to you!

Snow, today, oh my!

That is what my bride and groom today are saying!  Andrea and Russell are going to have a beautiful backdrop of snowflakes for their wedding this afternoon.  It is just one of those unexpected things that we deal with when it comes to a wedding, but it certainly adds drama to the day and great stories to tell.

I will post some of the day's photos next time.  Good luck to my bride and groom!

A wonderful venue

I had the pleasure of visiting Oatlands Plantation this week and visiting with their events manager Katherine Farley.  The venue is off Route 15 in Leesburg and is charming.  The manor house is a beautiful backdrop for your tented wedding with beautiful gardens to also be explored.  Did you know that at holiday time, you can have a small wedding or event insde the Manor House?  What a perfect way to celebrate with family and friends at holiday time.

Be sure to check out this venue if in search of something different.

Thank you, Katherine for a wondeful tour, tea, and information!
